Photo Tour along the Thermodon River
The Thermodon River has its source in a rugged, inaccessible mountainous region. The Turkish name for the river is Terme Çay. It is formed by two headwaters, the Carsamba Çay and the Terme Çay. See the map for a detailed view.
After leaving the mountainous region, the Thermodon flows through a fertile plain that is bounded on the south, east, and west. The river is short, but its flow quickly becomes very abundant.
In this photo, you can clearly see the fertile Thermodon Plain, which slopes gently down toward the Black Sea.
In the background, you can make out the silhouette of the mountain range that isolates this plain from the neighboring regions.
The Thermodon flows into the Black Sea. In the estuary, the river flows slowly and sluggishly.
In this area, you can see many horses roaming freely. Children play with these horses and ride them bareback.
