The fact is that there are a multitude of unsolved historical mysteries that, due to certain implausible aspects, are regarded by most people today as pure fiction.
Scientific research usually disregards these »incredible« stories. If Heinrich Schliemann and Arthur Evans had thought the same way, Troy would not yet have been discovered, and Knossos would still be hidden underground.
The myth of the Amazons holds a special place in this regard. Stories about women who were able to exist without men - and who, moreover, successfully resisted men in battle and even defeated them - could never have been true, at least according to scholarly opinion!
Thus, these stories were classified as works of fantasy, even though most ancient writers left no doubt that they regarded the legend of the Amazons as a true story.
Since it is hard to imagine today that a people of warrior women ever actually existed, most contemporary historians either disregard the numerous accounts of the Amazons entirely or emphasize primarily those aspects of the legend that seem completely unrealistic, in order to relegate the myth as a whole to the realm of fantasy.
The Purpose of this website is to provide a platform where research findings on Amazons are presented and where anyone can comment on them and contribute their own suggestions and ideas. In this way, it is possible to gather a diverse range of knowledge and information.
The Objective of this website is to promote a thorough and comprehensive investigation of all evidence related to the Amazons, with the aim of uncovering indisputable proof of their former existence.

Relevance and Vision for the Future:
This raises the question: Cui bono? - What do we gain from the realization that the Amazons actually existed, aside from their historical significance?
In any case, it shows us that there can be very different forms of human coexistence that differ completely from our modern conceptions. The Amazons - and indeed all matriarchal societies - lived in an egalitarian community, a society without class distinctions, where authority was based on natural trust and mutual understanding rather than exclusively on laws and state power.
Aren't we looking back at something from the past that also holds an enticing prospect for our future?
