Tekkeköy Castle

Fortress of the Amazon city Lykastia

At Tekkeköy, some kilometers east of Samsun, there are impressive ruins of a mighty fortress. Only by using a well-contrived system of stairs you can climb up to the platform of the castle. From there you can overview the western part of the Thermodon-Iris plain. Around this fortress there was an ancient town - supposedly the Amazon city Lykastia.
