Kapru Kale
Research campaign 1999

High up in the so-called Amazonian mountains, near the spring of the Thermodon (today Terme Çay), there are the ruins of a fortress which is extremely inaccessible. Like the fortress at Tekkeköy a well-contrived system of rock-cut stairs leads up to the platform, otherwise there is no way to climb up there. Most probably, this very hidden castle represents the last refuge of the Amazons, very alike the Macchu Picchu of the Inca.
