Bronze Age Amazon
Bronze Age woman statuette - now in the archaeological museum of Ankara, Turkey.
This valuable woman statuette made of silver and gold was found at Ankara in central Turkey. It shows a woman which seems to wear a cuirass. This statuette belongs to the early Bronze Age, it is about 4000 years old. The finding of this figure in the neighborhood of the famous home of the Amazons at the river Thermodon (about 300 km to the Northeast) and its appearance as a woman warrior allows the conjecture that it is a contemporary representation of an Amazon.
